| "Trollskog” is the brainchild of two Swedish producers/musicians whose love for experimental music and explorative ways of working came together in this electronica/pop-project. Named Andreas and Sven, their story started in math class 1997. Since both had trouble understanding even the simplest equations, they banded together in the back of the class, mainly talking about music and sometimes girls. What started as a class room friendship soon led to Andreas inviting Sven to his studio to play around. After a couple of years they both had pursued the love for making music in different ways. Andreas having released some house tracks and remixes and Sven having tried his luck with a band playing at smaller venues in Stockholm. However the two still kept in contact and always had smaller projects together experimenting with mashing different music styles. Then on a cold autumn evening in 2005, the two met for a couple of beers with another friend and started talking about their childhood dreams of making music, which now felt further away than ever. Andreas had taken a job at a media company answering phones and Sven had worked the last six years at a kinder garden. As the night progressed and the beer kept flowing, talk of change came about. They decided to do something. Waking up the next day, in Sven’s small studio apartment, they both had a vague recollection that they had promised each other not to let life continue in the same old way and they decided to start fresh. Two weeks later Andreas had quit his job and gathered his things at his studio and Sven, having also quit his job, went about selling his apartment. They then rented a truck and drove with all their stuff to Sweden’s second largest city, Gothenburg, to start their new life. Having almost no money and only having found an apartment in the cheapest neighbourhood in Gothenburg, the two survived on canned food and cheap beer, which for some reason gave them both itchy rashes on their faces. When the money had run out, they both realised that they had to do something to keep afloat and therefore started a small company doing audio productions for TV and radio commercials. While working with music for commercials during the days, work with “Trollskog” kept on during the nights, since the TV was broken anyway. And so here we are almost ten years after Andreas and Svens first meeting. The two are still working on their beloved “Trollskog” wich has now grown to more than just a small side project. And if you were wondering, trollskog roughly translates to troll forest or deep, dark, forest. |
